Wedding Season

Late Summer has been a busy season for weddings with a range of gorgeous cakes created.  A theme coming through is one of simplicity - especially for fondant cakes.  Clean lines and use of real flowers as the feature and just really good quality cake made with the best ingredients.

A Good Harvest

Many weddings are now held in winery venues and a recent cake we did followed that theme with fresh grapes and grape leaves used as the decoration - we think the result is fresh and fit well with the wine barrel cake stand and location for the wedding.

An April wedding with a peach colour theme and 94 white chocolate wrapped individual cakes (with top cutting cake) displayed on crystal drop tiered cake stand.

 Each tier of the stand had a different flavoured mini cake; lemon syrup, chocolate mud cake & white chocolate and raspberry.  Extra cakes that don't fit on the stand can come out later so each guest has their own mini-cake.

The great thing about the tiered stand is that it provides a real presence in the wedding venue because of its height - so a real focal point in the room.

As always the finishing touches are linking the colour theme of the wedding with the cake - in this instance gorgeous peach flowers and peach coloured ribbon set the scene.

Real flowers have a beauty that cannot be surpassed.

The bride chose to provide each guest with a small bag to take home their individual cake as a wedding favour - a great option if desert is already included in the wedding feast.

Fondant flowers

Fondant and royal icing wedding cakes still remain a favourite.  Current styles tend to be simpler and have a clean look with feature flowers.  This cake uses a simple one colour fondant rose that links with the bridal colours to create a contemporary wedding cake.

Parade of Pink

If you like the modern 'mad hatter' style cake, then this vibrant pink 3-tier fondant cake will liven up any pink inspired wedding day.

Glorious Green Wedding Cake

Using our custom-designed and built tiered cake stand, Clinton has designed a decadent spring inspired wedding cake with white chocolate wrapped individual cakes.  We think this cake is perfect for a spring or summer garden wedding or those wanting to use the modern crisp green and white theme for their wedding.

Individual Tiered Wedding Cake

We have created a custom designed crystal beaded and perspex tiered cake stand which provides a wonderfully dramatic way to display individual wedding cakes.  The stand can accommodate the normal cup-cake but we think that the tapered fondant covered or chocolate wrapped option has a bit more style than cupcakes.  We provide the stand hire within the price of the cake.

The top of the stand has a traditional cake which is used for the cake cutting ceremony and can be decorated to match your wedding theme (in this example pink bridesmaids dresses and pink flower bouquets).  Individual cakes are created to the exact number your require for your guests.

The beauty of individual cakes is that they can then easily function as the full desert for your wedding and different cake flavors can be made to suit all your guests tastes, from chocolate to vanilla and anything in between. 

Bespoke Cakes

If you have a particular theme for your wedding or a special setting where you first met which you would like to be featured through your wedding cake, then we can talk to you about how to best create a bespoke design to reflect your needs.  Clinton has years of experience in knowing what is possible and how to achieve particular effects and will be able to guide you to the perfect cake choice.

The example below was for a couple who were both skiers and met on the slopes and had a winter themed wedding.  The fondant cake was created to reflect a mountain ski run, with edible snowflake decorations and two glass skier cake toppers.

Chocolate Ribbons

Another type of chocolate cake decoration can be achieved with white chocolate sculpted ribbons - they look just like fabric ribbons but with the added advantage of being edible!  The ribbons can be different colors and forms - whatever might suit your requirements.

This example is from a garden wedding with dark chocolate mud cake with white chocolate smooth coating and white chocolate ribbon decoration with rose buds, petals and ivy leaves from the bride's bouquet that also linked with the decoration of the tables at the wedding dinner.

White Chocolate Shard Cake

Another stunning white chocolate option for a wedding cake - dark chocolate mud cake covered in rich European-style chocolate ganache and then layered with white chocolate shards and curls.  We have decorated this with ribbon and flowers to match the bride's bouquet, the blue of the hydrangea looks really stunning with the white chocolate and adds a touch of glamour.

Another lovely option is to have individual 'mini' cakes for the head table of the wedding party, individually plated with raspberry coulis and vanilla cream and a decadent dark chocolate stick the wedding cake becomes a desert in itself for the wedding party and guests.

Wedding Bouquet Inspired Cakes

A lovely way to link your indulgent chocolate wedding cake supplied by Marron & Dolce is to have us decorate your cake with selected flowers from your very own bouquet.  This provides an effective decorative link with your overall wedding day theme and is a natural, pretty and cost-effective way to customise your wedding cake for your special day.
